1. Who provides the service
Noctcom is a zero-knowledge encrypted storage service operated by Redder Labs, an independent development project (hereinafter, "we"). Contact: [email protected].
Noctcom's software is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license. You may audit it, modify it, and self-host it under that license. These terms govern the managed service we offer at noctcom.com; self-hosting is governed by the AGPL-3.0, not by this document.
2. What Noctcom is (and is not)
Noctcom encrypts your files on your device before uploading them. Our servers store only encrypted data that we cannot decrypt. We have no access to the content, to your file names, or to your keys.
Noctcom is a storage service, not an office productivity suite or a real-time communication tool. We do not analyze, index, or monetize your content — among other reasons because, by design, we cannot.
3. Your account, your password, and your recovery phrase
The security of your account depends on your master password and your 12-word recovery phrase. You are responsible for safeguarding them.
Critical warning: due to the zero-knowledge nature of the service, if you lose your password and your recovery phrase, your data is unrecoverable. There is no backdoor, no reset through support, and no copy of your keys in our possession. Be sure to keep your recovery phrase in a safe place.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Noctcom to store or distribute unlawful content, nor for activities that infringe the law or the rights of third parties. As we cannot see your content, responsibility for what you store rests entirely with you.
We do not monitor content (we cannot), but we may act upon valid legal notices or signs of service abuse (e.g., automated use to overload the infrastructure), suspending accounts where appropriate.
5. Your files are yours
You retain all rights over the content you upload. We acquire no ownership or license over your files beyond the technical (encrypted) storage necessary to provide you with the service. You may export your entire vault at any time.
6. Plans and pricing
The managed service includes an initial free quota. Paid plans, when activated, charge exclusively for storage capacity (bytes), never for your content. Self-hosting is and will always be free under AGPL-3.0. Any price changes will be communicated with reasonable advance notice.
7. Availability and "as is"
Noctcom is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep the service operational, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime. There may be maintenance, outages, or changes. In this early stage, we recommend keeping your own copies of critical data.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for data loss arising from the loss of your keys (password/phrase), nor for indirect or consequential damages. Given the zero-knowledge design, we cannot recover encrypted data without your keys, and you accept that risk by using the service.
9. Cancellation
You may delete your account and your data at any time from the settings. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or pose a risk to the service or to third parties.
10. Changes to the terms
We may update these terms. If the changes are substantial, we will communicate them through available means (e.g., a notice in the app or a service email). Continued use after they take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish and European Union law. The processing of personal data is detailed in the Privacy Policy.
